It is common knowledge that as the world gets smaller, yesterday´s village square is tomorrow´s global marketplace. The so-called Global Village is taking on a more defined shape and consists of a myriad of neighbourhoods, boroughs and suburbs. Although these different parts of town interact on an ever increasing scale, they still have their own way of doing things, their own opinion and their own set of values and beliefs. These days, if you want to ‘go global’, you need to ‘think local’.
‘Culture’ determines how people act and react. Our intercultural communication programmes look at both the ‘hows’ and the ‘whys’ behind behaviour. For example, why won’t the new Chinese project leader give me a straight answer? Or why do my colleagues in the London office think I’m pushy? Gaining insight into other cultures and understanding how your own culture is perceived by others are key factors in minimising misunderstandings and avoiding conflict. Understanding the fundamental cultural do’s & don’ts can make all the difference when it comes to building and maintaining successful cross-border relationships.
Branch Out can tailor a programme to your organisation’s requirements.
