Leadership is determined not by what the manager does but what people around him or her do.

A good leader has the ability to influence people’s actions, behaviours and attitudes in such a way as to leverage talent, deliver results and improve profits.  

People are often promoted to a leadership position after having shown great aptitude and success in their particular field.  However, effective leadership relies on highly developed interpersonal skills. Being able to connect with your employees, communicate a clearly crafted vision, set achievable goals and establish purposeful direction are key to creating successful leadership.

A good leader leads by example and provides a role model for employees to follow. He or she is one who doesn’t waste time on unnecessary tasks or communications, one who keeps skills current and encourages others to do so and one that listens to the needs of employees.  A good leader develops a culture of inclusion and appreciation.

Knowing the content of the job does not automatically translate into being a talented people manager.  That’s why our leadership course aims to teach new managers the interpersonal skills needed to become dynamic, inspirational leaders.

Who is it for?
The Branch Out Leadership course is designed for newly appointed managers who have to lead a team or for those aspiring for a role with leadership responsibilities? It is also appropriate for managers who have been in a leadership role for some time, but who have never attended a leadership course.

What are the benefits?
Upon the completion of the Branch Out leadership programme, the participants will:

  • know own leadership development targets and have strategies to address these

Course Content
The Branch Out Leadership program is modular based. The first core modules are:
1) Leadership, 2) Managing People & Teams and 3) Communication

Branch Out courses are customised to the specific needs of each client. Before designing your leadership programme, we will conduct a comprehensive Needs Analysis, including an Assessment if you choose.  
The topics below are examples of what could be included in your Leadership Programme depending on the outcome of the needs analysis.

  • What is a good leader? Is a leader born or made? Open debate/discussion
  • Exploration of current leadership theories and their practical application
  • How to write and communicate a compelling vision statement
  • SMART goals and how to design them
  • Effective communication skills
  • Raising your EQ (emotional intelligence quotient)
  • Understanding yourself, understanding others
  • Managing Teams effectively
  • How to motivate and inspire your people
  • How to develop an “inclusive culture”
  • How to delegate
  • Strategies for resolving conflict

In addition to the three core modules of this programme, participants can also choose from the following modules in order to develop their abilities:
High Impact Presentation skills, Assertiveness Training, Business writing, Time-Management, Coaching Skills for Managers, Conducting Performance Appraisals, Running Effective Meetings and Stress Management.
