Nicola Courtney is co-owner of Branch Out. Nicola is an accomplished trainer with over 18 years experience in corporate language training and has specialised in teaching writing skills for legal professionals. Her international background has provided Nicola with the opportunity to work with a wide cross section of businesses including the banking
industry, the world of politics and legal firms. Nicola’s background as Director of Studies at an international training organisation brings a breadth of experience in both the design and delivery of seminars and workshops and she has worked on projects for Clifford Chance, Houthoff, Pes Rijcken, ABN AMRO, as well as the Dutch Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Education

Jacques Joubert is an ADR Group accredited mediator with more than 20 years of legal
experience, which includes practising as an arbitrator and mediator. He is a former member of the Cape Bar and has practised law in Canada. Jacques has trained mediators for UCT, the Department of Justice and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Jacque is co-founder of Mediation in Motion and designed and developed the material for the course with Francois Botha and Alan Nelson’s assistance. Karen Joubert has a law degree from the University of Stellenbosch. She is an admitted advocate (barrister) of the High Court of South Africa and practiced law as a member of the Johannesburg bar for approximately 10 years before moving to the Netherlands. She became an accredited ADRASA (Alternative Dispute Resolution Association of South Africa) mediator 1994. She completed her CELTA training in 2013 and is now working as a legal English trainer. With her background in mediation and law she specialises in training legal professionals in the use of language best suited to the mediation process.

Jan Willem Loman heeft ruime ervaring in het bemiddelen van geschillen op het gebied van samenwerken en uit elkaar gaan. Eerder is hij actief geweest als advocaat en bedrijfsjurist. Hij was jarenlang advocaat-partner bij Ekelmans & Meijer. Jan Willem’s aandachtsgebied bevindt zich op het snijvlak van arbeids- en ondernemingsrecht. Bij ReulingSchutte houdt Jan Willem zich momenteel bezig met zakelijke mediation en met begeleid onderhandelen. Zijn specifieke kennis en ervaring heeft betrekking op geschillen binnen samenwerkingsverbanden, tussen aandeelhouders, bestuurders, toezichthouders, management-teams en vennoten/maten. Jan Willem geeft voordrachten en workshops en publiceert met regelmaat over mediation, en is als mediator aangesloten bij de Rechtbank Amsterdam. Mogoeng Mogoeng was appointed as High Court prosecutor from March 1986 to February 1990 in Mafikeng. He practiced as an Advocate at the Johannesburg and Mafikeng Bar  and later served as the Deputy Chairperson of that Bar Association until his elevation to the Bench. In June 1997, he was appointed Judge of the North West High Court. In October 2002, he was then elevated to the position of Judge President of the North West High Court. Mogoeng was requested by fellow judges President to serve as a member of the five-member committee led by the then Chief justice Pius Langa. That committee investigated racial and gender discrimination within the Judiciary and proposed the necessary remedial action.He was appointed to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa in 2009 and subsequently elevated to the position of Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa on 08 September 2011.  In August 2017, the Chief Justice was appointed Chancellor by the Council of the University of KwaZulu-Natal for a period of four years. Alan Nelson is a co-founder of Mediation in Motion (MiM). After spending 35 years as a highly successful high court advocate and trial lawyer, Alan resigned from the Cape Bar in 2006 and currently offers his expertise in all facets of civil and commercial law as a CEDR and CD accredited mediator. He serves as an elected member of the ADR Forum of the Western Cape Government and frequently addresses audiences on mediation. Wahida Parker has 18 years’ experience as an executive at board and management level and hold non-executive/trustee positions on a number of boards. Wahida joined Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company in 2016. This saw her moving into a bigger tourism landscape in the same year that marked unprecedented success for the Cableway, having achieved 9 record months for the year. Her foray into tourism has been recognised by the industry when she was appointed to the Board of Cape Town Tourism a few weeks ago. Wahida is a qualified attorney and internationally accredited mediator, and can draw on multifaceted experience, including brand management, public relations and marketing. Wahida is based in Cape Town.

Peter G. Peek is mede-eigenaar van Branch Out. Hij is afgestudeerd in Kunstgeschiedenis en Scandinavische Taal- en Letterkunde. Peter werkt al meer dan 30 jaar in Sales & Client Services binnen de trainingswereld en voordat hij 10 jaar geleden met Nicola Courtney Branch Out begon, werkte hij voor een aantal internationale trainingsinstituten. Hij
begrijpt de trainingsvraagstukken die organisaties hem voorleggen en weet daar creatieve oplossingen bij te vinden. Zijn klantenkring omvat vnl. overheidsorganisaties en bedrijven uit de farmaceutische en de financiële sector (banken, accountants etc.). De laatste jaren concentreert hij zich met name op de juridische dienstverlening. Peters realistische en georganiseerde aanpak zorgen ervoor dat klanten dikwijls een langdurige relatie met Branch Out aangaan. Bij Branch Out is Peter verantwoordelijk voor marketing, verkoop en klantencontact.

Nakedi Mathews Phosa is een Zuid-Afrikaanse advocaat en politicus en was ook een anti-apartheidsactivist. Hij is een voormalige premier van Mpumalanga en lid van het National Executive Committee van het African National Congress. Aletta Renken is MfN-registermediator en tevens geaccrediteerd business mediator bij het Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR, United Kingdom). Zij heeft inmiddels ruim tien jaar ervaring als zakelijk mediator op het gebied van (internationale) samenwerking en handelsrelaties, arbeid, insolventie, financiering, verzekeringen, ICT en Telecom. Aletta is als mediator verbonden aan meerdere rechtbanken en de Ondernemingskamer (Gerechtshof Amsterdam). Voordat ze mediator werd heeft Aletta afwisselend gewerkt als advocaat, als bedrijfsjurist bij onder andere ING, Vodafone en Translink en als rechter-plaatsvervanger. Aletta is oud-bestuurslid van de Vereniging Zakelijke Mediation (ZAM) en de Stichting Insolventiemediation (SIM). Zij zal haar kennis en ervaring met internationale mediations en waar zij in de dagelijkse praktijk tegenaan loopt, graag delen in de workshop “Sharing experiences from daily mediation practice”. Jacques de Waart is erkend mediator (MfN, NMI, DNV, RM, RvR, ACB, IMI, ICC), trainer en voormalig advocaat. Jacques is gespecialiseerd in situaties met meerdere partijen, zoals: fusie, bedrijfsopvolging, -splitsing, directieteam, ruimtelijke ordening, nalatenschap, ondernemingsraad, projectontwikkeling, arbeidsverhouding en organisatieontwikkeling. Hij werkte in conflictbemiddeling o.m. in Kroatië, Albanië, Slovenië, Macedonië, Rwanda en DR Congo. Hij is één van de auteurs van het Handboek Mediation (SDU, 2005 – 2013), de Toolkit Mediation Advocacy (Boom, 2007) en Groepsmediation, dynamiek, procesontwerp en werkvormen (NMIkennisreeks, 2008, SDU Mediationreeks 2015), was medewerker van het tijdschrift Nederlandse Mediation (Wolters Kluwer) en publiceert over mediation onder andere in het Tijdschrift Conflicthantering (SDU), Advocatenblad en het Nederlands Juristenblad.
